......I then go to the travel size
section, buy one of those travel size baby powder, dump
the contents and wash/dry it real well and refill with pure
talc. I've seen others use spice jars.

Better yet. Find an old sock and put it in there. It works great as a way to apply it to the seals. I use an old dress sock that lost it's partner in the laundry.. Then keep it in a plastic bag.

That's what I use on my seals and it works well. It dosen't hurt the latex and comes off immediately in the water.

KY jelly has some excellent uses, but I doubt that latex seal lub is one of them. :-)

Go to the pharmacy counter and ask them to order
"HUMCO Talc USP" -- has no fragrance, pure talc. My pharm
(which in part of a grocery store) gets it in in 1-2 days.
It comes in 10oz container for
about $11 (as of last year). I then go to the travel size
section, buy one of those travel size baby powder, dump
the contents and wash/dry it real well and refill with pure
talc. I've seen others use spice jars.
You can actually order it from them direct for $7.23

Cool - thanks for the tip.

KY is just fine for latex seals. Think about it -- what are condoms made out of? It's water-soluble and rinses away clean, whereas I find talc gets 'goopy.'

And that doesn't get messy??? I've never had a problem w/ talc gooping up or anything..

Omicron - what's to get messy? Again - "water soluble and rinses away clean."

Also stores a heck of a lot nicer in a gear bag or toolbox than talc. Get talc wet and it's toast... with KY just toss the tube back into your gear bag.

I 'spose. I'm all about minimal maintenance though - having to rinse the stuff off is one more step I'd have to do....with talc I just never think about it.

The KY comes off when you get in. What could be easier?
