I was recently on TACA's web site and realized that they have a carry on weight limit of 22 pounds and 45 inches. I am wondering if they actually weigh your carry on and if anyone else has ran into this issue. I was planning on being able to pack a bunch of stuff in my carry on that I did not want to check and know I am trying to figure out what to do.

dive camera, land camera, regulator, C-pap, net book, and accessories

I did find out that I can take the net book as a personal item. which frees up 2 pounds.

A lot of airlines have the same thing! Sometimes it is enforced and sometimes it is not! Air Pacific has a 22lb limit. But times are tough and they are more lax, but on the way home I have had them make me break up my carry on into three bags! Go figure? It is the Third world!:confused:

Hey---on one of our many trips to Roatan(in about ?'02), TACA made EVERYONE individually get up on the scales & weighed EVERYTHING for that flight....My wife & I & the other couple going with us were the FIRST in line when they opened the ticket counter for that flight .When the little TACA man told my wife(the very 1st one in line) to get up on the scales, she said to him 'Pardon me??.I don't think so'....Well, guess who was up on the scales about a half minute later.....I asked what was the reason for this & a lady working there said they needed the total weigt on the plane for seeing how much fuel to load for the flight....I said, 'heck lady, just top it off.'...But that didn't work either......lol---EVERYTHING got weighed......

LIAT(local carrier in the Lesser Antilles) limits you to 14 lbs carryon---total.......

Thanks, I guess I am going to most likely check a second bag and pray that everything gets there and in one piece.

That is too funny! I think they got you guys! All modern aircraft weighs its self as a function of Hydraulic pressure on the landing gears! So maybe the gauge was broke? Or they were killing time???? I haven't heard TACA stories like that since the 90s! :dontknow::rofl3:

Ummmm, that would be after the plane is loaded.

Think about it for a second.
