Day 5:
I got another message in the morning that the days dives were canceled due to weather, but they offered to find us another charter on the west coast if we were interested. We jumped on it and said yes. We have only done 8 dives so far.
ZOEA Mallorca Dive Center
ZOEA is located near a marine park, which means we should see more life. We obviously won't make it to their first AM dive, but they send their boat out 4 times a day, so we planned to make it for the 11am trip. Upon arrival to the address, we were met with a gate that we couldn't enter. I had to call them, and they drove to the gate with the key card. Once in, I had to call again to find out where to go. Once there, we dropped our gear off and my brother parked the car. They informed me that they had 2 more dive trips going out if we were interested, including an 8pm night dive. At first, I was like YES. They would only confirm the next trip at 4pm, but not the night dive.
Dive 1: Refeubeitx
They paired groups of divers up and assigned them dive guides. We got changed and put our stuff in lockers and carried our gear to the boat. Our dive guide was changed at the last minute, which was frustrating because we did a whole dive brief with the first one. They wouldn't let you on the boat until your tank was on the boat. They filled every single tank spot and it's a single tank trip. It was beyond crowded and there was no seating to get geared up. We had to wait for our guide to come help us get in our gear. There just wasn't any room or thought put into the configuration of the boat except put as many tanks on it as possible. It had an inflatable outer wall which meant we got to back roll in.
The dive topology was a wall dive. At 80ft was a strong thermocline which kept everyone at a shallower depth. I let me legs drop into it with my body in the middle and my head above. It felt great this way with my 5mm.
There were a lot of larger grouper on this dive. We even found a seahorse. There were eels and lots of small fish. It still wasn't West Palm Beach full of life, but it had some life. We did an hour dive and headed back to the dock.
Dive 2: Didn't happen. My cousin was really frustrated with the boat. On the 11am dive, he said someone was standing on his fins and he couldn't get geared up. When he tried getting his fins, they got mad at him, as if he was in their way. On boarding the boat, there were so many people in the way that you could hardly get back to your tank spot. People weren't being courteous; they were just standing in the way socializing with zero awareness. We canceled the 4pm dive and told them we wouldn't be coming back for the night dive.
We drove around the area to find something to eat and went back to Soller to hang out in the downtown center area.
