One reason not to buy something like this from questionable sources, I guess.;-0 At least it seems that they are being up-front about the problem, and handling it (assuming you bought it from an authorized dealer).

Just make sure to check that the serial number isn't in the range when you get one.
 
This is old news - the recall was for an initial batch of Vytecs, and was dated approx. 7 July 2002. There was a several week delay while Suunto scrambled to get the problem sorted, causing some shipping delays for some people, and by August 2002, online scuba shops was shipping upgraded Vytecs (that's when I bought mine).

It's highly unlikely that anyone buying a new Vytec today would receive a bad one, but check the serial numbers anyway. It's not a reason to avoid purchasing a Vytec.

Review the info dude. This was an old issue, and Suunto has recalled those earlier units.

The ones that are available now do NOT have these issues...
