So, I have given up, I don't think it can be done with what I have, but this is a last ditch effort for some help.

I have a Suunto Vyper.

I have a Suunto Serial cable to hook into my dive computer.

I have a USB/Serial adapter made by "Cables to Go"

I have the program Divelog.

I am new to macintosh stuff and I have no clue what to do, but I have tried my best to figure it out. I have a macintosh powerbook g4 that is runs OS X 10.4.1

I think I need a driver for my adapter, but I cannot find it anywhere. I think I need a driver for my serial cable, I got it from a link from the divelog site, but I have no idea how to check if it is correct. I have no idea at all what I am doing.

Please if you have any clue what I need to be doing, without hopefully buying any new stuff, I would appreciate it.

and yes, the computer is on and in transfer to pc mode, stupid divelog asks me this as the end all question to my problem, like I would really spend all this time without doing that first....

Thanks gang,
Jeremy:confused:

Dear fellow mac user and diver, pls don't give up. I have a Vytec with usb cable and used it with the divelog program on a Mac running 10.3.9. The only thing different is that you are using a serial to usb connection and a newer OS. I am however very familiar with macs. Normally you don't need to download a driver for usb connections with other hardware. I just checked the divelog website and they don't have drivers for the mac serial/usb conversion which leads me to believe that I am right. Try using an older version and see if that makes a difference. Also try contacting the divelog site for advice. The person who monitors the site/writes the program is really nice and was quick to help me with any problems.

I did have a problem with their newest version last year. It totally did not see my computer. I then downloaded an older version and voila! I could download my data and the connection was easy.

Here's my 2¢ on the divelog vs the suunto app. I like the suunto app much better than divelog. If you still have an old pc laying around running xp, I would use the suunto app in a heartbeat. There is much more info downloaded to the suunto app. Divelog is only ok. With the suunto, you can change a couple of things in your dive computer itself. The interface is much more polished and user friendly.

Good luck. Let me know how you make out.

Even with the Suunto USB cable I still had to download a driver. My guess is that you do need a driver for you serial-to-usb adapter. It could also be on of the USB converters that does not work. Have you tried a known one such as the keyspan?
