Surface Corrosion on AL tank??

Just rinse them down at the end of the day. They will develop a little aluminum oxide patina and then be stable. External corrosion of concern is almost always the result of contaminants being retained on the tank. damaged paint, wraps and so forth.
 
I think waxing them would make them slip out of the bands!?

I dont know never tried it all my tanks are holding up fine but we will see when i do more salt water.

Its a very very light coat and no buffing just a light wipe. i wouldnt use a board wax as it will heavy coat and trap water.
 
The OP's tanks look clear coated to me. Get that nasty paint off them so that moisture and salt aren't trapped underneath. Hard to tell pit depths from pictures with the corrosion still present.
 
Polish the tank with an orbital sander up to 2000 grit, then
finish by hand, with that brilliant non band slips wax wipes
and you have under the hood of a show car or ZKY's avatar
