Do Brand name dive equipment manufacturers (SP, Hollis, xDeep, Halcyon, Dive Rite, etc.) buy the snaps they sell from a certain manufacturer(s) or do they manufacture them themselves? If they are sourced from other manufacture(s), who are these original manufacturers? Are there ones that are better quality than the others?

I am trying to find out if there is a way to bypass the "middleman" who doesn't add value and go to the source (high quality source).

The stainless steel ones at HomeDepot are decent.

I second Home Depot stainless or brass clips. REI has aluminum carabiners for rock climbing that work in a lot of applications as well.

I doubt they make the snaps themselves. The product IMO should be marine grade stainless steel, I do not like brass. Many online store sell these and you cant go wrong with any of them(dgx, dris etc) Just make sure you buy the appropriate size for your application.

I am trying to find out where these guys buy the SNAPS from not the resellers. I am establishing a diver business in Libya and I need to know who the manufacturers are for this type of accessories. By the time these products get to the online resellers, there is too much margin added, I can't resell these products in Libya and still have a decent margin :) I am a dealer for brand name equipment manufactures and they have the snaps in their product line but I am still interested in going to the "source."
