Don't know about that, I still get it every time after 25 dives, even with very gentle ascent rates. But I have teensy eustachian tubes, bad enough that I've had trouble descending on two different airplane trips.
Sounds like you have trouble with your ears, so do I on the odd occasion. Descend slow enough to PROPERLY equalise and ascend slowly. Take care of your ears and they will take care of you.

looking back at original post, should they really have been at 35m on nitrox 32?
I think that’s what they were using, maybe I was wrong but these guys aren’t the best divers in the world, I dont think I’d be doing that depth on nitrox anyway.

Have you tried having a mint or any sweet that would make you swallow for when you are in a plane ?
