Your comment is very insightful and I'd like to use your ideas for my project. Another person also shared (in an interview) that the rating is something that they would find helpful, so I will be pursuing that direction. I can post my prototype and then can share my more refined design in a few months.
One other idea that may or may not be possible. Could you add a button/link/window, whatever it's called, that allowed divers to add a short dive report? If that option had the required fields of current, temp, visibility, and time, you could use that data to refine your predictions based on how a past forecast held up to actual conditions. I really know nothing about the process you use to put an app together so this may not be feasible. Anyway, it's just a thought.

Good luck! Glad you found the previous ideas helpful. Let us know how it turns out.

I am adding this to "helpful features" ideas for the app. May be a capture of the conditions (in a certain past interval), then the diver can put their condition rating and that can help refine future rating for similar conditions (kind of like AI learning). I'm not doing the actual programming, so anything is possible. I'm concerned with how to make the app useful to the users.

Be sure to release info here for people to find you app. probably allot of testers available through here.

Good luck. Looking forward to seeing it.

Hi guys! I hope you are doing great and had a few dives since the last time I've been on the forum. I'm advancing with my course project and have some screens to share - however my tutor advised me to include all other water sports... Currently I'm testing which options potential users prefer. If you are curious and want to give me an opinion on 3 screens, please view and vote (each takes less than 1 minute). Please feel free to leave me other comments here as well, while I figure out a way to share the whole prototype.

Looked at all of them. Unsure exactly what "Dive In" entailed so I opted for weather.

I do like the idea of expanding the base to include water sports other than just diving.

Thank you guys for your helpful suggestions. I think the way for me is shore diving, since the medication didn't help. Also thank you so much for those who helped me with my survey!

Which medicine did you try and how did you take it?

Hello divers! I'm a UX Design student and will be developing a weather app catering specifically to divers for my course project. Right now I'm doing user research about how divers and other water sports enthusiasts use weather apps and what is missing from current ones. I would much appreciate your help if you have 3 minutes to fill out my survey:

My husband is a scuba diver and I've been on a few trips with him. I'd love to become a scuba diver as well but discovered that I get severe sea sickness on the boat. So if you have tips about that, I'll be glad to hear them.
If you could incorporate information from the various almanacs around the world you would be onto something. However, the cost of accessing the information would probably make the app financially unattractive.

The thing that annoys me about every weather app is that I cannot see the past claims. For diving I want to know what the weather was over the previous few days. Was their a lot of wind in a particular direction? Will the vis be awful?

Also, if it was actually snowing yesterday but the app says it was 20C I’d like to know.

For UK club dive planning...

Absolute tides app
Windfinder app
UK viz reports Facebook page.
Local knowledge of sites.

That's for shore diving.

This ^^^ would be so useful. Thanks to @KenGordon for mentioning it.
