I was looking at some bp/wings and had a strange question I havent seen asked on this board. Can you remove the standard wing inflater hose and replace it with a air source type octopus? Ive never heard of this being done and was wondering if it was possible. Specifically, the new atomic SS1 was something I was considering adding to a wing. My main reason for this is to eliminate a hose, and at the same time be more streamlined.

Actually with a scuba pro air II it would work for you two fold, you get a back up reg, plus because of the bore diameter on the inflater you would be able to put air in your BC faster at depth than with a standard inflater because the sharader valve is smaller on a standard inflater, just my two pennies worth.

Yes i have an Seaquest / Aqua lung air source on my Dive Rite Travel wing.

Just remove the tie wrap holidng the standard inflator, take out pin on the wire which goes up to the pull dump valve and reverse procedure.

you will need to make sure that the wing you are looking at has a compatible hose diameter wise but other than that no probs.

not seen the SS1 in the flesh but the Air source is no bigger than a regular inflator and is pretty reliable, my GF has had hers 4 years and about 350+ dives.

Many don't conside a fast inflator a good thing. While diving you don't need it to be fast and if the inflater sticks (which they do)you really don't want it to be fast.
