i'm planning on buying a used steel tank from a guy who has no idea what he's talking about, but the price is right. he says its a LP95, 2400PSI, and its last hydro was on 08/05, its massive sticker indicates it's by "AquaAire," a company which i can't find any information on.

could any of you guys tell me what the markings on the tank mean? you can see them here - http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d50/thegreenfoost/Picture9-1.png

i have no idea what they mean. i've tried looking it up, to no avail. i'm hoping they'll shed some light on its ability to pass its next hydro!

thanks

Do you have a pic of the serial number and other numbers on the tank? Some dimensions would be helpful, too. The hydro is showing that it was 8/05 with a plus rating.

Pressed Steel is the maker.
No reports of any problems with this tank....it is a bit heavy compared to some.
If it's clean inside it should sail through hydro.

All we can tell by that picture is that it's a PST tank that was retested by Diving Enterprises in Salem, MA.

Take/show a picture of the other crown markings (the 3AA area).

How do you know that from so little info? I was only told how to read basic info on the tank and all I can see is original and re-tested hydro stamp (with + rating) that is all. (And I would like to learn more.)

Go the the DOT/MHMSA website here, then enter the retester's code. The code is read in a backward "C" pattern. In this case, G554. Then look up the retester in the website.
