Is there anyplace close by to dive? the closest diving springs I know of are 2 hours away at devils den/ blue grotto. I just want to work on my skills in fresh water.

If you don't want to do salt water I'd suggest the following.

Alexander springs (small, but can be good test area).
Blue spring state park (small vent with spring run).
Orange grove sink at Peacock Springs (cool sink area)
manatee springs (my favorite) - there are two sites here. A large sink, and the main spring with a run.

Those are all roughly 1.75-2.25 hours away from st augustine, and are state parks so your entrance fee is way less than at blue grotto or devils den.

I see Alexander does not permit solo divers,do you know about the others?
