ss backplate weight?

hey,
I am thinking about purchasing a bp/w setup for a single tank. i would like to dive a ss bp. In a 7mil wetsuit, with a bc, i normally dive 14lbs in salt water. How much less weight would i put into my weight pockets diving the bp/w rig with a ss bp?

My SS BP weighs 11.5 by its self, 12 rigged.

Most BP's are about 6# rigged up.

14 with a 7mm is pretty darn good. Wow. Figger taking 5 or 6 off.

Hmmmm....... 11.5 lbs. is a heavy plate at least compared to mine. My Dive Rite S/S BP is only 5lbs unrigged. Not sure that you should just look at it as just changing weight based on changing your rig. I found that the BP/W is just as much as a balance thing than a weight thing. You can't buy a BP/W setup with a couple of weight pockets and that be it. I had to move little bits of weight around to get myself trimmed out. I carry only about half of my total added weight in my actual pockets.

It IS a heavy plate. I'n using 4 pounds now, not 8 or 10. I love how this plate dives.

I moved to a 4# weigh belt, eBayed the ACB and went to a nice dinner!

i was in your same situation, i dove 14lbs with a 7mm, dove last weekend with my new ss backplate, i did 8 and 6lbs in my dive belt, both worked fine. with 8 i was a lil heavy at 20feet doing my hang and with 6lbs i was just about neutral at 20fsw, a lil positive but managable

You may want to consider diving with a set of steel tanks. The extra weight of the steel backplate and the exciting boyancy characterisics of steel tanks may not require you to use any additional weight at all depending on the size of the tanks.
