My girlfriend just had a spinal tap done because she had too much spinal fluid built up. She still wants to try diving. Obviously, we will consult the doctor to see if there are any major concerns here, but I just wanted to get your opinion also. Most doctors seem to think you cant do anything after having any kind of procedure done. Any advice or questions we should ask the doctor for better inof woulf greatly be appreciated. Thank you

Go to DAN's (Diveralertnetwork) and fill out one of their "ask a question" forms.
They will get back to you in a couple of days.

The LP (lumbar puncture or"spinal tap") is far less concerning than the reason for it. Why exactly does she have "too much spinal fluid built up"? Pseudotumor cerebri? That might be the contraindication to diving. As suggested above, a query to DAN might be in order.

{BTW, expect this thread to be moved to the diving medicine forum. This forum is for decompression related topics only.}

I aplogize for puting this in the wrong forum. I will try to pay closer attention to the forum titles.

Thanks for the answers though. I will check that out with DAN.

The Dr Decompression forum is described as: "Ask Dr. Deco questions concerning the scientific aspects of decompression." Dr. Deco is a Ph.D. research scientist.

As such, I have taken the liberty of moving your post to the Diving Medicine forum which is designed for medical inquiries.

I endorse pismodiver's take on your girlfriend's situation.

Best regards.
