Spearfishing and Lobster hunting in Ma and RI

I am a relatively new diver and just starting out in underwater hunting. Unfortunately I am shore bound at the moment (meaning I donÃÕ have a boat or accesses to one) and I am looking for places to spearfish and hunt for lobster in Ma and RI where I can dive from shore. Any help you can give offer me on where to go or equipment to use will be greatly appreciated.

hello bmk67 as far as getting lobsters in ri non residents can't get a permit but if you can find a buddy from ri you can get them at night also you can't spear stripers in ma but you can i ri hope this helps

erk thanks for the info. I have done some research and am up to par on the rules and regs for thmost part. My problem is myself and two friends are the only people we know with a scuba cert. and we rellay don't know where to start. With no one around to guide me I am looking at a lot of coast line with no real idea where to start. If any one can help with shore dive locations that are good for spearfishing or lobster hunting and maybe some equipment needs. Again thanks in advance.

well i'm not that familiar with mass locations in RI kings beach in Newport and fort wetherill in Jamestown are two places to try you could also try spearboard.com
and try the new england section

Gloucester and Rockport have the best diving on the north shore. And we have wednesday night dives metting here (Atlantic Divers in Danvers) every wednesday at 6pm.
