Not really sure if this post is in the right place , But here it goes...

We are a small group of people (around 12) that go out diving whenever someone feels the itch. We dive off the beaches of Southern Cal, and off many different boats. But we are always looking for new dive buddies...

No annual dues
No Meetings
All trips are arranged via e-mail
All divers in group are EAN trained Recommended by not Required
Rebreathers Welcome
Skills range from Basic through Instructor
Tech-Divers Welcome (must show prof to dive on
any any organized trips)
DIR welcomed but No NAZ* Mantalities please
Basiclly we just want to dive!

If you are a "DIVER", like to DIVE, live around Southern Cali, and want or need to have an opertunity to dive with like minded DIVERS...
contact me at
jpbeck1@msn.com-----all SPAMERS will be Keel Hauled, then Flogged, then god willing Flogged once more!

Any other questions can be fielded here or via
e-mail....

Thanks
JB

I guess that says it all... Noone interested

I disagree...some interested parties may not contact you IMMEDIATELY, due to a variety of factors.

for example, I live in Northern Cal and might contact you prior to diving in So. Cal in a few months...

I found it curious that you are asking tech divers for proof of qualification to go on organized trips, but no mention of OW qualification verification is made....

Cheers,

Sean

Well JPBECK,
I wouldn't say no one was interested. If I were you I would post when you and your buddies are planning a dive or just show up at the many dives that Wrinkles or Mo2vation (Wrinkles being the current reining queen of dive outings) setup.

See here: Click here

Heck if I ever get the time or all the gear that I want (hate retal gear) I'll be more than happy to join the group on some dives.

I guess your right about that-but the type of tech dives we go on usaully mean going down to 300 fsw---which is not a depth that you want to find out that buddy is not ready for---
Whereas open water dives---usaully down to 30-40 feet I can handle someone wigging out on because there is no soft ceiling... We can come stright up...
I think that your right we should reqire proof for open water people. thanks for the advice

To be clear, I was only pointing out what I thought was inconsistency....I think divers should be able to decide if they have the right qualifications...unless it was a team, and then the team should have minimum standards...

But, if I know ahead of time you are going into intentional deco, I'd bow out, at this time...

Enjoy!

It is great to have a place to get dive budies and wish you group well.

But there is an already has a well established group with a place to send an e-mail out to the list for a dive between Malibu and Laguna Beach, with the ocassional dive outside those paramaters. While the "other" group does have a regularly schedule dive, they also have an e-mail list you can subscribe to and when ever a diver wants to dive another day or different location they just send the message out to the entire list. A dive is usally the result.

Your group seems to be a duplicate of this group, no dues, no membership, no officers, just divers who are planning to get wet. NOt saying there is not room for more than one, but it does seem to be a duplication of effort.
Just my $0.02.

No shame---Thats sad... Why would you post the Sandeaters here on my post...We are two completely seprate groups ---The Sandeaters only go out on Sundays and off the beach only, according to their Web Site --Whereas we go out all the time: off boats, and beaches... You need to check your fire!

I think its selfish of you to want the divers of Southern Ca to only be your your group.

Respectfully yours
JB

No fire intended. Original post modified to check fire. Just pointing out the duplication.

Don't see the fire - I think pasley had (and has) a valid point and was just trying to be helpful.

For my .02, it seems like JPBeck has more "extreme" diving on his mind, so he should limit his scope for his potential group and there would be little or no overlay with "other" groups for us recreational types.
