Hello, I'm looking for a live aboard in the last week of June and have read great things about the South Red Sea and also further south in the 'Far South Red Sea'. I did my open water in Dahab about 20 years ago and while I expect both will be quite different, I want to ensure the trip is really worthwhile.

Any recommendations?

It really depends what you are looking for. The “Far South Red Sea” is far less travelled as it reaches into Sudan. You probably would see dive sites that none of your dive buddies have ever been to. There are wreck dives and shark dives along with coral reefs.

The South Red Sea is more popular based on accessibility. You can usually hop on a flight to Egypt and be on the boat quite quickly. There’s also a variety of land-based shops if you have time to dive before and after your liveaboard. Although more popular and therefore busier, you’ll still see wrecks and reefs along with a few sharks in the right season.
