Faa -- locally they HAMMER me for hydro's. THey get me for a Hydro. Cleaning, Vip, and Fill I beleive last time it was $80.00 for my Steel 100


My Shop charged $35 for air and $65 for nitrox hydro (oxygen service) because there is a minimum 1 hour labor involved in tumbling a tank and rebuilding/clearning the valve. Tanks SUCK-
 
It is a funny thing but the DOT requires the first strp in any hydro IS A VIP. So when a dive shop requires VIP on freshly hydro'd tank...they are ripping you off for a redundsnt VIP, but they all do this. The excuse I got was that the hydro guy might not really know how to fo a VIP. Ahuh, sure, he might not know how to do a hydro either.
I had my tank oxygen cleaned for nitrox here, and a well established lds tried to tell me thry would not fill my tank because " we don't know this this guy is snd anyone can buy stickers like this". Caveat emptor, the lds may not like losing the ripoff redundant business and markups.
