Hey guys! Just thought I'd introduce myself. I've been paying off my scuba gear for the past few months thru the magic of layaway and I'm FINALLY ready to get certified. Got my class coming up in a couple of weeks. Wish me luck! I'm located in Central GA. about 60 miles south of Atlanta, if anyone else here is in my area drop me an email, I can use the advice. Thanks!
Keith

Welcome to the boards. I'm a bit south of you in Tallahassee, so I'm not really a local to you. Good Luck in your class. Enjoy the site.

I'm a little west from you. I'm from Seattle. Are you taking yout OW?

Yep, this will be my open water cert. Been thinking about it for years, but finally decided to take the plunge. I'm 41 so everyone I know says this is part of my mid-life crisis thing, my second child hood as it were. Then they tell me they are wrong, it's not a second child hood thing cause I've yet to leave my first one. LOL!

Amen brother. I am in the same boat I just took the plunge a littler earlier. Get your friends to join you in your crisis. I have two of my best friends into diving and just signed on two more.

Most of my friends, as well as family, cosider me to be a ...lets see how the best way to put this is...a little eccentric.
I've got a few friends I hunt and fish with as well as other sports, but most think since we are about 3 hours from the closest ocean
diving is not for them. I had the same problem a couple years ago when I started kayaking and mtn. biking. They saw no sense in paddling when you could strap on a motor just as easy and usually cheaper. (Which was actually fine with me since I'm kind of a loner anyway.) That's one of the reasons I joined this board. I was hoping to meet some people fairly close with similar interest.
