Roatan has so many options and some amazing dive spots. We're going to be there for a month+ this winter, and one place with a great rep is Anthony's Key Resort. You can also easily get to/from other areas with restaurants, etc.

True, though not as easily as just walking down the street. He'd need to take a cab.

I stand by my recommendation for them to stay in West End, Roatan.
 
They are a PADI 5 Star IDC.
I didn't say that they weren't. The OP also wanted his son to be able to go out in the evening. West End offers that, along with many dive ops with very good reputations.

PADI 5 Star may not mean what you think it means. 😉

Ah!!! I have brain farts on occasion. The resort does have some night life and, if they want to go on night dives, they can go all night long if they wished.
