I have a Sony TRV900 with a damaged tape transport, tape keeps getting eaten up. I dropped it off at the local repair shop, they replaced about 3 different parts, and after about two months they gave up. Can anyone suggest a reputable repair facility?

Two I've found on the net:

"Video electronics" North Reading Massachusetts

"Video One Repair" http://www.videoonerepair.com/

Thanks,
Mark

There's a guy on ebay that I've heard about; never used him myself but have heard good things about him: REPAIR Service for SONY DCR TRV900
We've swapped emails before; the guy recommended I junk the camera & declined to take my $$.
I tend to trust someone like that.

I'm sorry that I didn't see your post earlier or I would have replied to it. I'm sorry that you had problems with that other repair shop I unfortunately hear that story all too often. The problem with a lot of shops are the lack of experience on a certain model. (They may only see a couple of those camcorders a year.) We work on them everyday. I hope that you were able to get your problem with your camcorder resolved to your satisfaction. If you or anyone on the board has any problems with there TRV900 camcorder just reply to this post or visit my site.

Hi Sherman:

I have a Sony VX-2000 camera I use for my boat surface camera that has a maddening little spec of dust inside the lens. It doesn't show up until I point into light or hold closer focus, which seems to happen a LOT when I use it.

Is it fixable without a sizeable investment?

THANKS...

Thank you for your inquiry regarding the repair of your Sony DCR-VX2000 camcorder. Depending on how deep the debris is in the lens would depend on the repair cost. The repair cost would range from $165 to $330. This also includes cleaning the tape path, video heads and camcorder. If you have any other questions please call me anytime at 888-283-2228.

Thanks,

Sherman
