I'm sure "T"DS is worried about losing the quarry as a training site, but "acted in bad faith"? For that they're restricting access so the state isn't able to assess (and maybe even prevent) the problem? There's got to be more to it than that. One way or another the state will get in; it's just a matter of when.

Maybe they'll say "OK, divers, we've been sponging 10 bucks off you twice a weekend all summer, so next time you're down, bring back 100 mussels and your next dive is free".

Dave,

I read the Post article too. I don't think they've thought through the consequences of poking a government agency in the eye. From a prior article, one of the other two infected lakes is Dutch Springs. All three quarries have one uncomfortable common characteristic, which could be bad news to us if the concern over things becomes hysteria.

Given their hamfisted approach, I wouldn't wany TDS to be the spokeperson for our interests by default if this becomes hot. We may want to think about quietly organizing to preserve quarry diving in the region.
