I decided to get wet today after a screwed up attempt to dive out of Port Sanilac Michigan last weekend (drove up - but Rec & Tec charters was running over an hour late, so I rolled back home and went boating).

I went over to Union Lake to get in a dive on the way home from a graduation party.

Water temps are 56/57ish at the bottom. They have line strung out to the "wrecks" that I missed going out, but found the sunken pontoon boat and then worked my way back along the line to the the sucken jet boat and then in to shore.

Vis was 20-30'

Nice way to finish off a weekend.

I have been iinterested in hitting Union Lake again but have wondered if the boating traffic is like the Indy 500 over your head. How was the boating traffic? Did you stay near your boat after entry? Will I be dodging Bayliners all day if I dive there now?

I did it as a shore dive. You go in about 75' from the boat ramp. I waited til Sunday around 6:00. They have a line leading our to the "wrecks". Then the lines spyder out to some other things in the water.

For sure you need a float and I would be careful not to come up in the lake if I did not have to.
