I've read suggestions for attaching SOLAS tape to the cylinder, fins, etc. to improve visual reference in low vis conditions.

Anyone tried this? Does it work?

Is the tape's adhesive backing strong enough by itself or is some other type of bonding agent required?

Hello

I've tried that tape before, and it has a difficult backing to peal off and if the stuff is old it never seperates. I now use Underwater reflective paint its tougher and last longer.

Good luck

The adhesive is awesome, but you have to get the surface you are applying it to CLEAN in order for it to bond well. Oil films or any debris, talc, or silicone on the gear is real hard on the adhesion properties. Alcohol or MEK wipe down is necessary to get a good bond.

As previously stated there is a bit of a trick to getting the backing off it.

I used to put it on tanks, but removing it for a visual was way too much work.
