Socorro mantas like to get their bellies rubbed by diver's bubbles. I have not seen this scene elsewhere. So, I filmed this event when we were diving in The Boiler dive site a couple weeks ago.

Amazing. Such magical encounters with Manta! We also saw them in almost every dive in Nov in Socorro, and some of us got quite close, but I don't remember seeing anyone doing the bubble rub.
Thanks for recording and sharing, @Dan!

You were also playing with dolphins there too, I bet, like I did :D

Yes, we did, and the dolphins definitely came to play with us, like puppies.
We didn't see them till our last dive day, at Roca Partida, while you guys seemed to have had a lot more encounters with them.
Thanks for recording and sharing, @Dan!

I am glad to hear that you have that similar encounter. That's why I'm coming back there again for the third times in May.

Awesome report! Thanks

Wow. Nice report. I think you saw everything on my diving bucket list. I have to do this some day.

Thanks for your kind words! I'm glad to hear that you like it.

Socorro is truly a fantastic place to dive with playful dolphins, mantas that want their belly rubbed by diver's bubbles, besides seeing the usual suspects (many kinds of sharks, including whaleshark, schooling fish, etc.). I haven't seen such scene in any other dive destinations I went (Galapagos, Cocos, Palau, Maldives, Zanzibar, Pemba, Red Sea, Oman, Bonaire, Utila, Cayman Brac, Tobago, Komodo, Raja Ampat, Alor, Bali, WaKaToBi, Bunaken, Sangalaki, Band Sea)

What a great trip report! It brought back beautiful memories of my trip last November.

Fantastic report -- thanks for doing it. Also, it is a small thing, but it is really cool that you give credit to each of your photo sources (even the DM whiteboard of the dive site).
