I am in the process of applying for life insurance. One of the questions they asked me was regarding my diving activities. I have been diving for 10 years now, and this is the first time I have been ask something like this. They asked me how deep I go, who I am certified with, and how often I go? Oh well wish me luck that I get passed the physical next week!

Make sure you have dive insurance - DAN - and tell the insurance company you are already insured for dive accidents. They can then underwrite the policy to exempt dive related accidents. For some reason diving is considered a "high risk" activity.

....for recreational divers. I just got a preferred plus rating with First Colony Life.

Commercial divers are another story. They generally not insurable for life insurance.

If you get rated up for your diving activities apply with another company. Most do not see this as an adverse risk if you stay within recreational limits.

Be honest on the application. It would be a real bummer if you left out something , like a certification for cave diving,(for one example) Say you got it a few years back and you leave it off the policy. Then you die in a cave diving accident. What then?? No premium. I mentioned dan insurance on my policy, athough i was told it didn't matter. If you want something to be worried about, worry about lipids. I had to pay an extra $19.00 per month because my lipid count was excessive?!??!! :11:

Those lipids will get you every time! My life insurance company was more concerned that I was an instructor...they would have preferred it if I was a recreational diver, even though I don't teach for a living.

My lipids are pretty good.
Zocor Baby!

why have lipids when you can have solids?
