I keep a remote in a pocket in my drysuit undergarment. That way I can lock the car when I'm done gearing up and unlock it as I'm approaching the parking lot after the dive.

I used to worry what would happen if I flooded the suit ... but then one day I forgot to take the remote out of my pocket when I washed the undergarment. To my surprise it still worked fine after going thru the wash cycle. So I figure a little flooding probably won't hurt it ...

:11: You wash your underwear ?........Is that supposed to be done? Uh oh.....

I have a spare set on a bolt snap on my bc. That way I can open the canopy of my truck and drop the tailgate to start taking of gear without laying anything in the dirt.

I gotta say, I really like the idea of having a key on the outside. I think I'll get another flat one made and attach it to a "D" ring with cave line and small snap also.

i use a hitch safe love the thing.

I love all the ideas I read on this post. One thing I do is hide my keys in the car, keep a spare key on an o-ring and I have a hide-a-key as the last resort. If I can't find my hide-a-key because I hid it so well, I call AAA. I haven't had to call AAA yet so it seems to be working.

Lately, I've been using a small bungee loop around a spare key that slides onto the tank band. Key rests near the BP/w so it doesn't get caught or come loose.

Spare key in a cheep waterproof case with lanyard around my neck, stuffed under my wet suit. It gives me easy access to the key even when fully equipped, I don't care if it floods on deeper dives, and even if the lanyard breaks, the case will still be somewhere in my suit.

A friend of mine went to the Auto Club and had a credit card key (plastic and flat) made. He dives with that and uses it to unlock the door. He locks the ignition key and fobe inside the car.

I wear a drysuit, so I keep keys in my pockets.

Here's a question though: one time I forgot to take my cell-phone out and dove with it. Naturally it was fine, but would I have been able to receive a call underwater? Would have been strange hearing the muffled sound of my ring-tone going off at 50ft down. ;D

no such luck... it stays on shore!!
