I just type what I'm looking for into Google followed by "scubaboard.com". I haven't had much luck with forum seach engines.

I'm just a newb borrowing a computer. But I think I'll go with a Perdix soon. Check out the Pedix and Petrel youtube vids. Looks like a very easy computer to work with:

Frosty,
I believe you misread my initial message. My daughter is currently looking at certifying either Deep or Wreck. We were trying to determine if she should do deep or wreck in Bonaire (which would be the better experience) and decided on deep. Her long term goal is to obtain her DM and she is accumulating certifications in the meantime. Her planning for achievement is well thought out and she does understand the items you pointed out above. Thanks your your input!

4. Don't bother with air integrated.
This is huge for me. I want wireless integrated air.

Not sure if already answered but Cressi does give a three minute safety stop. I have the Giotto but they are very similar. The Giotto has a few extra features.

I love Bonaire but it is not where I would choose to do either wreck or deep.

Its all about personal preference.

My very first computer was air integrated, way back when (Suunto EON). As soon as I switched to twins (doubles) it became a nonsense, partly because they where independents (no manifold).

If you have air integrated you should really still have a traditional contents gauge incase of battery or pairing failure. That then kind of adds an extra failure point. The sender's ate often quite fragile, which has also always worried me in case you crack it one in a wreck.

As I said, personal preference!

My wife and I have dove with the Aeris Elite T3 / air integrated - backup spg (we love it) for the last three years - My daughter is getting certified so I have just purchased the Hollis DG03 with transmitter for $500 (249 w/o transmitter) - she will also have backup spg.

We love the air integrated and only periodically check spg for accuracy during a dive - so far the pressures have always been the same.

As far as Bonaire I can't comment - haven't been there .... yet.

As per everyone's comments as for size just remember everything is magnified by 33% and seem 25% close while underwater so something that seems small and hard to read on shore will be much easier to read underwater

Maybe you should, but I certainly don't feel that need. Not even way back in a cave. Like you said, personal preference is king and I hope I made that obvious when I said

I haven't found this to be universally true. Light, turbidity, mask issues and even the pressure on your eyes can work against you being able to read gauges.

I agree on the vision. Even with the lazer surgery (11 years ago), light--and specifically sunlight--is the factor that determines how well I see. There is less of that, plus the possible turbidity, in water. In bright sunlight I can read even without the reading glasses. Old peoples' disease.

Also contrast: black on white, no problem, "pretty" labels with black on purple or brown on khaki take reading glasses and a "tactical" flashlight. Ugh.

Leonrado's screen's been legible enough for me so far.
