Hemp is not a "herb", now if the name was "weed" or "toke" this would be amusing.

Cannabis is a herb with many recognised medicinal uses, so much so that a synthetic pharmaceutical cannabinoid called Nabilone is also used.

I cultivate my own herb. I abhor the criminality associated with drug pushing gangs who are also involved with mass illegal DVD and music copying. Incidentally, do you check the copyright of all your open water student's music and film collections?

Of course diving and mind altering substances don't mix - just as flying to 10,000 feet and diving don't mix. The key here is that marijuana, as does every other drug, has a half-life which means it is metabolised and eliminated from the body. Obviously, you wouldn't smoke a joint just before a dive, just as you wouldn't drink a quart of vodka before a dive.

Don't get too hung up on the legalities.

Just keep it away from me. If I find out that someone on board has some, and intends to use it and the boat owner won't prevent it, I'd probably cancel or look for another boat.

Some of us HAVE to "get hung up on the legalities". I have a security clearance, and I really like my job. I'll be damned if I'm going to get on the hook because someone can't leave it alone for a few days.

Oh, and it takes more than 30 days for THC to be eliminated from the body. As long as you have fat cells in your body, the effects can be felt for much longer than just a few hours.

I'd never dive with you.
