I was night diving in the BVI, and these little things were swarming around my light and wriggling around on my hands. No sting or bite, but very annoying.

1) Fast moving
2) Attracted to light
3) 1/4 to 1/2 inch long
4) Dark Red
5) Looked like tapering, segmented worms, but my eyes are old, and they were moving fast

Thanks for any answers.

We call them BLOOD WORMS

Very common in the Caribbean in August. They're getting ready for the full moon!

In the mean time- they pretty much so get into your BC, suit, and anything else.

Feed corals with them. Attract them to the coral polyps with your light. Careful!

Yummy.

We call 'em "blood worms." Corals love 'em - grab 'em and eat 'em up.

I encountered them on my night dive in belize, and 3 in my diveskin in the shower. I'm pretty sure I screamed as if I had seen a spider in there.

However, I didn't mind them while i was diving, our DM acutally took a light, put it near coral, and had us turn our lights off...small fish, then bigger and bigger fish kept coming! It was really neat...just not in the shower later on!
