Just because I can.......

A Luxfer 30 is -1 when full w/valve......so it really depends on the first stage if it gets close to -3 lbs......regardless 1 or 2 pounds isn't going to have that much affect on an experienced diver. It's amazing how we dive in trim with Al80 stages and sidemount singles. You will overcome the tendency to fall to the side with experience. In both my solo and SM courses my students experience the characteristics of many types of tanks.

And this leads to the aforementioned question of why mount on the right?

A sloppy fitting BC could be caused to shift/hang with the tank slung. Then the tank on your back is also off axis, and above you, causing additional moment arm attempting to overturn you. I'd see if your gear really fits.

Tucked in where it is supposed to be, it really shouldn't be any cause of problem.

Now, as to right side, please, please, please take note of where your equipment (hoses) are routing with this bottle being there. Even a conventional octo is potentially impacted by that pony being there....

Ok, I have mental issues..... wow admission is good for the soul.. :nyah: Again this was the first time wearing the pony and my thought process was with my Oceanic PP3 air integrated computer and Air Control/Octopus on the left side, I thought that there was enough stuff on the left so I tried the right. I don't have a dedicated octopus because I have the Air Control/Octopus so I have plenty of room on the right and the bottle felt good there. I sure that with practice and some fine tuning of the weights I will once again swim like a diver and not a flounder. Please if anyone knows of a good Youtube video on setting this up it would be appreciated. Thanks again for all the input as I will take all the advise and suggestions I can get.

I don't think you can find a video of it slung on the right side... I couldn't at least. Basically you have two options. If it is a swivel turret first stage, just put the octo hose up and around your neck like you would with a normal secondary, or just leave it stowed. Unfortunately with a back inflate I don't know if you can do it, but if you had a backplate it would be quite easy to sidemount the pony bottle, and then you wouldn't notice it there at all

Right side or left...... I will take any videos that could help. I'll keep searching. Thanks again

I sling a 19 on the left. A 19 and a 30 are not much different, about -2 pounds full, then there's the reg and SPG. I take 3 pounds off the left when I dive with my pony, works well for me. Close enough for government work
