Im looking for a picture or some feedback regarding lacing the DSS wrist boot for the SK7 compass. Im looking to have the lubber line pointing more towards my fingers rather than across the top of my hand. If any one has done this Id love to see. Thanks

You're going back in time? Listen, when you get back to 1981, there's something I really need you to do for me...

I don't have a picture of mine available, but I really like the DSS SK7 compass mount. Lacing is pretty easy, just tie a knot in a bit of bungie and thread it through from the bottom, inside hole, over to through the top of the outside hole. Run the other end of the bungie through the bottom of the outside hole over and down through the inside hole and tie a knot for the correct length. The knots should tuck neatly into the space created by the boot.

One of the nice features is that you can adjust the fit by adding an extra knot to shorten the bungies. I do this when I'm not wearing a dry suit.

You can set the compass into the boot with the lubber line at a slight angle. I've set this so I can read the correct bearing through the side window of the SK7 with my arm outstretched and finger pointed in the direction I'm going. This works very well and turns out to be very accurate. It's hard to describe, but I'll try and post a photo of this for you.

Thanks for the response, As you noted Im looking to cant the rig so it can be read when my arm is less than 90 degrees. 70 to 80 would be nice but 45 would be the best!

Hi James,

I posted a couple of pictures for you over on TDS. Mine is only canted about 5-10 degrees and I did that by rotating the compass in the housing, which may not be enough for what you are trying to do.
