Freefloat I just got back from 33 dives in Mexico in which I used the X-Shorts on all of them.

I got quite a few snickers from divers on the boats during ocean dives but stowing my little Canon S230 in my right hip pocket on top of my X-Notes during ocean dives became extremely handy and left hanging it dangling off a shoulder D-ring unneccessary.

No one on the boat laughed when I went to rinse off my primary mask and the strap blew up and I switched to my backup in my left pocket and backrolled off the boat 10 seconds later.

It was also nice to be able to switch the pockets between the 5 mm that I used mostly for Cenotes and the 3 mm that I used in the ocean, at least until week two when I got a little chilly from all the diving and used the 5 mm all the time.

Definately handy things to have although I will be putting permenant pockets on my 5 mm one piece suit. In your case you might want to consider these shorts.

What about one of these?

Oxycheq Pocket

Dive-rite also makes a similar pocket. The problem with it is it will slide on the harness if not somehow secured and also the velcro loosens up when your suit compresses and the pocket ends up swinging around your leg. It was a pain in the bootie.

So what I did is remove all the harness attachments and the velcro thigh wrap and sewed the pocket to the outside of my wetsuit (my long sleeve shorty that I wear over my farmer john). I placed it on the outside of my left thigh (in the slip stream created by my shoulders) and it is as low on the shorty as it will go and doesn't get in the way of anything. I don't think this pocket is as huge as some of the other pockets out there.

Thanks, I may see if I can find a shop with one in stock so I can judge if the size will fit on my wetsuit jacket. Apparently you have the same style as mine, from the sounds of things.

Maybe a bolt snap tied closely (0-2 inches only of line) to the lanyard attachment point of camera (like with a backup light), then small bungie loop tied around harness.

Snap/D-ring will be a secure way to keep camera from being lost.
Bungie is cheap, small and can hold camera in place out of the way.

Bungie does cause a possible hang up point though.
Won't work with wetnotes or much else you could store in a pocket.

having used all the above mentioned, solutions with the exception of the xshorts which I have a pair at the store.

The oxycheck/Dive rite pockets are smaller and cumbersome slide on the belt.
Premade pockets companies like atlan and bare have pockets on there suits small and horrible.
Trim Pockets - to small
Clip camera off on right D-Ring good solution as long as they don't get in the way of lights, clip off on the inside as if you need the light fast you may go for the first clip. Change around if you find yourself going for the second clip. Practice to find out.
Glued pockets Halcyon/DUI/XPockets best solution make sure suit is dry first and if your suit is older, don't waste your money.

I did decide to clip it off... it's very buoyant so it tends to hover out of my way over my shoulder. I generally don't have any trouble finding it - I once couldn't pat for it so I flipped myself over til it floated across my field of vision.

It looks like this

And just for the record, I think this is more of a "Hogarthian" question than a DIR question. If you were 100% DIR it means you'd already have pockets.
