The Speedo knee-length lycra shorts are called Jammers. That's what I wear. Tasteful for swimming, comfy under a wetsuit.

Running shorts also work out good.. long shorts make it look like you've got a weird growth in your suit that others don't want know about, like maybe you forgot and left your diaper on before donning the wetsuit.

Honestly I prefer cycling shorts over the banana hammock.

Are you using the shorts under a wetsuit? If so I guess any of the speedo type shorts although I still wouldn't be caught dead on the beach in them. Each to their own I guess.

For the beach I use regular swim shorts, O'Neil make some great shorts for surfing in and they are generally quite comfortable when wet and look great on the beach. If you are diving without a wetsuit these types of shorts are also really comfortable in the water.

When diving with a wetsuit, well lets just say I wear what the scotts wear under their kilts.

Personally I don't think there are any shorts that are comfortable under a wetsuit that look good on land or should be worn on the beach.

why don't you throw on some under Armour under a nice pair of quicksilver board shorts or sum.. when you want to dive you just take the shorts off... you can do it right on the beach also be a gud idea to wear sum under the under armour like boxers

Hey come to Brasil everyone wears speedos even me who said I would never. But still never gonna wear them in the states, way too much ridicule.
I got laughed at for wearing board shorts and had a couple of long conversations with some really nice girlfriends down here explaining why they like men wearing speedos better.
And most importantly wetsuits are more comfortable when wearing speedo's. I might even wear speedos under my board shorts when in the US and hurry up and take off the boardshorts then slip into my wetsuit before anyone notices just for the comfort factor.
But yall are right speedo's still freak me out a little, I still can't buy my own pair. A very good friend of mine bought my first pair because she knew I would never buy my own.

I swore I would never buy a Speedo, but when I couldn't find anything other than friggin' knee-pants (board shorts), and even with the Uzzi trunks, I was doing the "stuff-&-lift" dance, when I put on my wetsuit, and then I checked out the Speedo site and found the style that looks like shorts, and I was sold. I can (and do) wear them under regular shorts. If anyone has anything to say about them on the boat, I don't hear so good anyway, so I don't care. I'm there to DIVE, not impress anyone with my fashion sense. LOL

What? No style points in diving? What with the stringy hair, no make up, 3 day old beards and boogers hanging out of your nose - how much more attractive can we be?
