I'm looking at your original pics. Bungies on the upper dring, would make it unnecessarily more difficult to get in your rig. Move the bungies and quick links down to the chest strap level. It won't effect your cylinder position and will be easier to get in your gear.
Others have said the same. I like the stability of the cylinder with it on, especially when shorediving in case a bungee was to fail and if it’s an Xdeep boltsnap it is easy to work when needed. Also vey useful for leaving a tank tethered underwater for later retrieval.

I take mine off just before I dive, I have a split in them so it's easy to get them off. Round bottom tanks are a pain in the arse to set up, fill etc without the boots.Do I ditch all the plastic tank boots?
