Yup but really in modern times doesn't actually need to be used much.
Do modern diesel subs still use them?

BTW, when people ask what your longest dive was, do you say "3 months"? :-)

Don't know as I was on nuke sub (obviously)

yes, they still do

I've used a snorkel as part of my regular gear since 1968, hasn't hurt me none.
