The Z2 is fine a reg. We have 4 of them. Breaths just as nice as our M1s. I have used mine in cold water as well as deeper than the rec limits. Great regs.

Does your Z2 have a fixed turret or does it swivel? If fixed consider upgrading to the swivel then your first stage is the same as the B2. (Shameless plus I have a swivel turret forsale). Similarly, is the second stage hose have a swivel? Consider upgrading it to the swivel. Many people like the swivel. We have them on 5' and 7' hoses (got a deal on them) and they are nice enough. Or as already suggested put a Milfex on them. If adding a swivel on the second stage you then have a B2 second stage sans a Ti inlet tube.

If you gotta have something new. Sell the sucker probably get $250 for it. That is if in great condition.

Keep it for a backup. And if you are not already carrying a pony, use it for your pony reg.

Do not sell it or trade it in. You been diving with it and know how nicely it breaths and you know what great shape it's in.

Just the other day my dive buddy's reg was out of commission at the LDS going through it's yearly checkup and he wanted to go diving with me. I pulled out one of my extra regs and we headed off.

I repeat. Do not sell or trade it in.

I use an Atomic B2 as a primary, and XTX40 octo, that I make certain to breathe on every dive.
While the Apex breathes fabulously (and I actually like the design, and metal tuning knob better than the Atomic), the B2 breathes better, both at depth and shallow (IMHO). And, before anyone asks, I got an incredible deal on the Apex, and swapped out an integrated inflator/octo.

The swivel on the B2 would seem to be a cool idea, however, once the hose is charged, it doesn't swivel terribly easily. I actually swapped out the swivel hose and replaced it with a Miflex. In fact I replaced all my LP hoses with Miflex, and couldn't be happier. They flex and bend as easily charged, as disconnected. Jaw fatigue (that existed with the swivel) disappeared.

Good luck with your decision...

Guys!!! Im convinced. Ill keep the Z2. Since keeping more than one regs is not a crime, Ill just buy another reg. Thanks for all your inputs.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the B2 second stage is all titanium, while the Z2 second stage is mostly brass.

You are correct. However, there are three metal parts on the second stage, the inlet tube, spring and the lever. The lever and spring are Ti on all their regs. For the B2 the inlet tube is Ti and for Z2 it is brass plated with zirconium. As such, other than the inlet tube they are the same.

its junk, I'll buy it from you for $4 and charge you for shipping for taking it off your hands...

Great Decision, the only difference between to of the line and entry level atomic is the metal/ and whether or not it has a swivel hose, or swivel turret. They area all awesome reg's... if thinking of another one i'd suggest a SCUBAPRO prior to a Spiro (USD/Aqualung) reg

My friend and I just returned from Curacao and used our new Z2 and Z2X(swivel model) regs. These are our first regs after renting regs on all previous dives. If Apex regs or any other for that matter perform better than these, someone certainly has a MUCH keener feel for breathing and dryness than us. These regs were great at any depth. And by the way, they are made in USA.
