If I was going to buy another reg, spg then I would just use the reg set I have now. I think that would be a pain in the butt.

It really wouldn't be a pain but if you feel you will have no other use for the regulator then it would be a waste. Basically what I am thinking of is a stage/pony regulator setup with the second stage replaced with an OPV valve. The SPG would be on a short 6" or so hose.

Has anyone tried making their own pressure checker? Aside from using a cheap first stage, OPV, and gauge as described above, does anyone have a source for the parts needed? You would need a yoke clamp/DIN attachment, a way to bleed off the gas when removing it from the tank, and a gauge.

You could purchase the parts from Trident but I doubt it would be cheaper. The gauge and bleeder are probably standard items you can buy from a company that sells air tools. It is the tank connection that I would assume is specialized.

I bought a checker after I came across a local scallop diver who was selling his tanks cheap. He had fifteen available and I ended up buying half a dozen of them. The checker comes in handy rather than using my reg set up.
