All of that information is outlined earlier in this thread. It always pays to read the entire thread. :-)

TL; DR: Faber didn’t actually perform the hot dip process, and the supplier who did is shutting down. Same reason why PST quit making them as well: it’s the opposite of a ecologically friendly process.

I suspect there too many environmental laws and concerns beginning to influence the industry to continue hot dip galvanizing stuff.
Just like in California, we were given the heads up that there will be no more chrome shops due to the incredibly toxic environment of the plating industry.
All this stuff will eventually get shut down and it will be world wide.

No, it will not be world wide. Chrome and galvanization are still necessary. We will just export our pollution.

Our policies change with every new administration that comes in. You’re darn right our policies influence the world. Look at the automotive industry and smog laws in California. Manufacturers set their vehicles up now to be California compliant from the factory or they don’t get sold here. Peterbuilt trucks for instance and many other brands don’t even make a non compliant truck due to California laws. It doesn’t matter what state you’re in, if you buy anything new in the US it will be CA compliant regardless if your state has those same enviro laws or not. It’s possible that HDG tanks and chroming at some point in the future will not be allowed to be imported into the US if they see it as dirty and non environmentally friendly enough.
The US is a huge part of the global economy and has a lot of influence over how things will change environmentally on a global scale.

Sorry. Things won't run without chrome and zinc.

True, just like things won’t run without oil and petroleum products.
Tell them that while they’re making our life hell.
Both things are simple facts. The USA will not run without zinc, without chrome or without petroleum products.

Shoot. No bueno. The quality of cylinder available brand new is going down....

Does anyone know why Faber is discontinuing them?

PST / Worthington > HDG Faber > Painted Faber IMO
DGX said earlier it was a third party who did the HDG - and that relationship was going away. Not to mention galvanizing is a hazardous(heavy metals and corrosive chemicals) process.

I may have to go over there and open a clandestine chrome shop next to a drug lab
