SHIPWRECK TALKS AT CONVENTION HALL
The Asbury Park Historical Society is hosting a fund-raiser to support the New Jersey Historical Divers Association, Inc. on September 8th, 2004 at Convention Hall on the boardwalk in Asbury Park, NJ from 7:30 PM to 10:30 PM.
The speakers will be shipwreck researcher Dan Lieb of NJHDA and local historian Gary Crawford of the New Jersey Museum of Transportation. Admission is $5 per person, $4 per person for NJHDA Subscribing Members.
Mr. Lieb will give a talk on the tragic wreck of the NEW ERA which came ashore in 1854. Mr. Crawford will give a visual presentation on the MORRO CASTLE disaster of 1934. This fund-raiser coincides with the 70th anniversary of the MORROW CASTLE disaster. The Asbury Park Historical Society will also be hosting a display of MORRO CASTLE memorabilia and artifacts at the event. Both of these vessels wrecked within sight of Convention Hall.
