Hi:

Last year on a Sun Dancer 2 (now Belize Aggressor IV) trip out of Belize, I saw a stand with beautiful wooden carvings of things like a hammerhead shark for sell, across the road from the pier.

I imagine a lot of divers fill up most of their 2 carry on bag space. I didn't buy anything there, but I thought wouldn't it be nice if there was a post office or UPS next door?

Is there usually a post office or similar at airports like the one in Belize?

I figure it's a dive trip-related issue, because with live-aboard trips, and some others (e.g.: Little Cayman, Cayman Brac), you can easily only be 'in town' on a main land mass (e.g.: Belize, Grand Cayman) briefly, and may not have a rental car or know your way around. Be a bummer to blow $150 on a nice, big 'This'd look great on top the t.v. or coffee table back home' piece only to reach the airport & find you couldn't ship it.

Anybody else dealt with this problem?

Thanks.

Richard.

Quite often, merchant artists that are located in tourist zones have the process of international shipping worked out. Be sure to ask, Friends bought a huge word carved box in Roatan. They picked it up at OHare Customs three weeks later. If this can be done even from Roatan....

My family and I are often not up to the baggage limit on our trip. We generally take a nice, foldable duffel with us, just for this reason. Of course, traveling by yourself, you are much more limited. You can always take advantage of the combination of checked and carry on luggage. I have learned to pack frugally
