I dive with a gentleman who bruises quite easily. Going up the dive boat ladder is really tough on his shins, lots of bruising from the slightest impact. Has anyone tried diving with shin quards to protect the lower leg?

I use knee pads not for bruising on boat ladders but for protection when falling down on rocks in heavy surf during shore dive entries/exits. So yes, it's something divers can use. I use the heavy elastic fabric sports support knee pads.

A neoprene pouch incorporating a soccer guard is a magnificent thing
