While rebuilding my Sherwood Magnum II 1st stage I noticed the small nylon spacer washer on the moving orfice was split. Does anyone know if this washer is supposed to be split or a solid washer?

Did your rebuild kit come with a new washer?

I am not overly fasmiliar with Sherwood regs but generally backup washers are split if they have to go inside something, for example a seat retainer, or have to go over the lip on something.

Indicators that it is normal would be if the split would be a neat cut on a 90 or 45 degree angle along with something surrounding the backup ring to keep it from spreading.

Thanks everyone for the info. DiveSite is correct being their was not one in the rebuild kit. The manual says to reuse it. I didn't know if I needed to replace it or not. Sounds like it is good as is.
