Sometimes. 500 pressure cycles, 500 hours, 5 years old. That's pretty well used.

If I bought a $1,000 reg set and used it for that period, with that number of cycles, I would expect to have had it serviced a few times, and if I didn't do it myself, that'd probably be somewhere in the neighborhood of $250-300. Just for maintenance.

And if I did it myself, I'd probably have invested more than $1,000 in tools to save the $300. But I don't want to know how much I've really got invested in scuba tools.
Well this is still ongoing.. but after posting complaining about the price I received my Perdix back to find it was 2 years older with 944 dives on it , it had a different serial number and was not an AI ! So not my computer! It was sent back and after much waiting I received my computer back to find it had a different serial number and it's not AI ! So now this one is going to have to go back . Its been a month and £240 and I am still no closer to getting a working AI perdix back ! Who said Narked@90 were good ???
Terrible

That's not good news at all. You got a plain Perdix back twice?

Did you call them?

Sounds like legit issues, not just price. Surprises me though. NOthing but good things to say re my one experience in having a Teric overhauled. (IMHO, Terics were not a shining sparkly product offering. But they fixed mine and I traded it for a second Perdix AI).

I had left it for my local dive shop to sort out but I have had enough now and I am going to ring Narked@90 myself this morning to find out what the heck is going on .
I will let you know what happens as the saga unfolds !

The service I've had from Narked has been exemplary thus far. Am sure they would be very helpful.

Do let us know how you get on.

With all customer service, it isn't the problem that matters; it's the way the problem was dealt with that you'll remember.

Sounds like someone at Narked@90 was narked on land.

That said, with other mfg I have sent items, including dive computers for warranty or other issues and have received a "refurbished" replacement. The goal in these cases is get a replacement back to consumer ASAP. At the same time the refurbished unit came with a limited time guarantee.

Finally all sorted . I rang Narked@90 myself ( instead of leaving it to my local dive shop). They emailed me a returns form and I sent back the non Ai Perdix ( the second one I had received from them ).
They turned it round within 5 days and I had back a working Ai Perdix. They also refurbed it free of charge ( new screen etc).
This was the service I had originally expected . I think it was just all an unfortunate cock up on thier part , probably untypical of them in fairness . I got there in the end. Happy and safe diving folks 👍

I've been diving an Oceanic VT3 for a little over 14 years. It has 1957 dives and 2052 hours on it, works perfectly

On the other hand, I bought a Shearwater Teric in 2019 and am currently on #8. I only paid for #1, Shearwater service has been superb.

Having to replace your Shearwater Teric 7 times in 5 years is hardly an endorsement of reliability or quality … even if the replacements were covered for free. Imagine if a new car had to be replaced that often because of manufacturing defects …

I've had my Perdix since 2018 has over 900 dives on it. Still working great.
