I don't suppose it could have anything to do with increased development, population, reef damage, etc. such as what happened in Recife, Brazil (where they came to a *sensible* explanation):

Recife: Revenge of the Sharks - Brazilmax.com

In an open letter to surfers[in Recife], the most frequent victims of shark attacks, marine geologist Luiz Lira, scientific director of the Oceanic Institute based on nearby Itamaracá Island, outlined the phenomenon this way: “Sharks are coming closer to the beach and have attacked surfers and swimmers not to satisfy their hunger with human meat. They are looking for what’s left of the fish, turtles, octopuses, squid, lobsters and crabs. When the Pernambucan sea was fertile, with an abundant menu, encounters between sharks and bathers were sporadic.”

Fortunately, no-one who buys The Sun can actually read so it's unlikely to cause any problems.

What a surprisingly elitest comment from a DIR Practitioner! Never would have thought you would hold opinions like that.

:rofl3:I figure there isn't a shark out there gonna look at ME in a wetsuit, with a tank on my back and think "hey I can get my mouth around that!"
:surrender:He'll probably be driven off by all the flashes from my camera. When a camera flashes the rest of the group will be there pronto to get in on the action. 6 to 8 strobes and flashes will probably poach or blind them.
The breeding Port Jacksons weren't up off by our cameras..... I think they figured it was fireworks!:rofl3::http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/images/icons/heart.gif

Looking down on Sun readers is hardly elitist. Anyone capable of tying their own shoelaces can do it. Take a look at their website and see if you disagree.

How do you attack the journalistic credibility of a paper that regularly features a page of naked women as news?

come on now, lets leave the ladies outta this...:eyebrow:
