Link to video of bcd incident. You can see a few things.

John Clynes

1. Always maintain eye contact
2. Always stay calm - this diver lost buoyancy at a fairly shallow depth but decided not to ditch his 6kg weight belt which was a good decision.
3. His new-ish buddy had been practicing SMB deployment. He deployed it. Shark went after it and gave them the chance to get on the ladder.

All in all a good outcome. But it reinforces that you need to keep eye contact at all times absolutely watch your 6.

not Brothers, not WT but anyway ...

and Tiger shark

That’s some snatch & grab! I certainly wouldn’t go after the mugger either.

I wonder if that rather expensive camera rig was ever seen again

Interesting to see this video. I was diving at Little Brother on 26 November 2018 and observed a different attack that also resulted in damage to the diver's BCD. Up till now I simply assumed it was the one being discussed here, but the video shows it's a different one. I know others in the group have video of the incident I'm thinking of; perhaps one of them will eventually share.

Hi there,
If your group could share that would be terrific so we can get more info on the recent changes in behaviour.

Thanks

I saw video from others on the liveaboard, but forgot to exchange contact information with them at the end of the trip. So there's not much I can do about it, I'm afraid.

Ok no problem it was just the more info we have the better we can help the relevant experts to determine why they were acting up so much. I’m hearing some more reports of very aggressive behaviour in November so obviously we’re all keen to fix this issue.

Thanks

So, I wonder what the number of recent attacks at Brothers actually is?
I suspect the only thing more hidden is how many really have been feeding the sharks

Yeah I think that’s a valid question. Depends how you define attacks of course but clearly something has changed that needs to be rectified as this is pretty unprecedented. I think there’s been a lot of unwanted attention that wasn’t the case hitherto.

I genuinely trust that they will fix this because the alternative is bad for divers, sharks and the economy. I also know the best people are on it and they know these sharks better than anyone.
