Superior has none, there are also a few dead zones in the various lakes with zero mussels. I have never heard a good explanation of why, but they do exist. There is one in Lake Erie north of Cleveland. There are no mussels on an entire schooner.
There are some zebra mussles in Superior but they are few and far between. It just doesn't have enough for them to eat so they haven't really taken off.
