So...do you turn tank on, test, turn tank off, adjust, purge, turn tank on, test, repeat? I don't think I've ever seen it done that way, unless I'm slow and didn't catch it, lol...
That's an old school way. You not only had to do that but also remove the second stage from the hose to adjust the orifice. With the in-line tool you can make the adjust while breathing it. It's not necessary to shut the supply off. Just not have the seat in contact with the orifice. On the inhale the seat is no longer in contact with the orifice. A nice slow even inhale is when you turn the orifice. After the initial set up where the lever height is adjusted, each time you turn the orifice should only be a 1/4 turn or so. At this point with as many as I've done, it's usually much less than that for the fine tuning.
