My wetsuit is black and blue but a few weeks ago I decided to get Lycra jumpsuit for snorkeling in the tropics. I went mad and ordered it in black and yellow - it's not so bad - actually looks good. Now I think my next wetsuit will be a 3mm mares tropics in Black and yellow.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention - I never realized what an important subject it was.

The predominant wetsuit colors seem to be black with either blue or yellow highlights. Of course there are also some shockingly bright ones that seem to look best on nubile, young, LITTLE lasses. Well I'm none of those so no worries there.

My question is why do so many people (everyone I have seen so far) choose the blue instead of yellow? I would have thought yellow would be good for visibility. Does it scare away the fishies? As if my thrashing will not. Or are divers just the shy, retiring, wallflower types? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA - not from what I've seen!

Not to worry, my questions will continue to plumbs the depths of stupidity. It keeps me humble - as if there was a choice:11doh:
Well, I don't know about the fashion statement but I will tell you the black with yellow trim/fins make it easier to spot your buddy in limited visibility. I saw a few sand tigers and they headed down current. I guess they didn't like the yum yum yellow which is alright by me.

Of course you know, that after this thread, everyone will get black and yellow and then we'll have trouble telling each other apart again. :D

My fins are black and yellow. They go so well with my lime green Elvis wet suit.

Lime green works so well with red hair. ;) I wonder why there are no wetsuits in earthtone colors like chocolate brown/pumpkin?

Because then you'd look like a big whale shark turd.

So far my exposure protection purchases have been based largely on cost and fit!

I find that inexpensive WetSuits generally come in two basic colors... Black, and Black :D
