Dive boats in Cozumel often toss a ton of weights at us.

If you get your weighting properly right on day 1, the day 2 boat guys, are going to look at you like you're nuts.

These things are brilliant.
and unnecessary. You really only need the bungee. The hard plastic part is superfluous.
Soft disagree. I've used the plates and done the bungee-only method. The plastic plate makes strapping on weights much easier, and the weights tend to stay in place better. And the plates prevent the harness web from folding.
